Sony Increases DualSense Controller Prices Ahead of PS5 Pro Announcement
- 0
As speculation surrounding a new console begins to rise, Sony has quietly implemented a price hike on the DualSense controller. This change comes just before the anticipated PS5 Pro announcement, which is expected during an upcoming Technical Presentation led by Mark Cerny on September 10.
Although the mid-gen refresh of the console has not yet been formally acknowledged by Sony, the standard DualSense Wireless Controller will now set you back a little more. Reports from Wario64 on Twitter indicate that the price has shifted from $69.99 to $74.99.
Additionally, special edition colors such as Sterling Silver, Cobalt Blue, and Volcanic Red have experienced a price bump, increasing from $74.99 to $79.99. These changes have been noted across various retailers, including GameStop and the PlayStation Direct website.
The advanced DualSense Edge controller has, for the moment, kept its pricing stable at $199.99, and the DualSense Charging Station remains unchanged at $29.99. In the UK, it appears that pricing has also seen an uptick, with standard color options going from £59.99 to £64.99 at PlayStation Direct, although they can still be found at their original price on Amazon—at least for now. If you're in the UK and considering purchasing a DualSense controller, it might be wise to act quickly at Amazon before any further changes.
This unexpected price adjustment may take many consumers by surprise, especially since there has been no formal communication from Sony regarding it. It's possible that the company will address this increase in a statement during tomorrow's PS5 Technical Presentation, though the event is primarily focused on the much-anticipated PS5 Pro.
