IndieDevDay 2024: A Global Gathering for Game Developers and Publishers in Barcelona
- 0
As the vibrant summer break for the gaming industry comes to an end, excitement is building for the events that lie ahead, particularly with Gamescom approaching in Cologne. This German convention will set the stage for a new array of fairs and conferences, with IndieDevDay in Barcelona and the Tokyo Game Show among the most eagerly awaited events in September.
These gatherings create a wave of anticipation for enthusiasts, marked by fresh announcements, previews, and updates regarding beloved genres and platforms. For the industry itself, however, it’s the crucial private meetings that significantly influence the direction of companies and their future releases. Publishers are on the lookout for projects that they can support and bring to life, while indie studios are eager to find collaborators who can help make their envisioned creations a reality.
Talent scouts will also be seeking new players to join the industry, and professionals will explore networking opportunities. This year, IndieDevDay's business-to-business section is set to see a remarkable expansion, aiming to host more than a thousand business discussions facilitated by a partnership with MeetToMatch. In terms of participation, the event organizers anticipate that IDD will host upwards of 45 publishers evaluating over 190 titles that will be presented at more than 150 booths. Collectively, over 1,300 industry figures will converge to conduct business during this show.
On the topic of employment, there will be a special initiative on the first day aimed at assisting companies in finding new talent within various sectors of the gaming sphere. Job seekers have the opportunity to engage with renowned game companies, including Larian, Gameloft, Anchor Point, and others, and present their work collections and CVs for consideration. While IndieDevDay has primarily focused on European studios, the 2024 edition aims to broaden its global reach, welcoming participants from countries such as the UK, Germany, Italy, France, Denmark, Portugal, Estonia, Japan, and the United States.
Demonstrating its global allure, Gamereactor is set to be the premier media ally for the gathering, providing fresh news and engaging discussions about the top anticipated independent games showcased. Set to take place in Barcelona from September 27 to 29, IndieDevDay is poised to be a remarkable occasion. Although the application period for studios has concluded, there are still opportunities for video game professionals, students, and the general public to secure tickets in the weeks approaching the event.
