Green Lantern: Dark - A New Lantern Rises in a World Overrun by Monsters
- 0
Green Lantern: Dark aims to introduce the most rotten, grumpy, and adorable Green Lantern since the days of Guy Gardner. The Lantern Corps are already stretched thin due to Amanda Waller and her allies, but another disaster looms in a different corner of the multiverse. This new bi-monthly series, part of DC's revived Elseworlds imprint, has been penned by Tate Brombal and showcases art from Werther Dell'Edera, known for his work on Something is Killing the Children.
This seven-issue saga is set on an Earth dominated by monsters, presenting a tale that interweaves elements of desperation, hope, and resurrection. The storyline unfolds on a gloomy planet where evil has long since triumphed over good, leaving humanity to eke out an existence in a corrupted, chaotic wasteland. Enter Rina Mori, a new Lantern who holds the mystical green flame capable of bringing light back to the darkened world. However, she's been missing for years, while Solomon Grundy's undead army continues to grow stronger each night.
The series features main cover art by Dell'Edera, along with variant covers by Homare, David Nakayama, and Dan Jurgens with Norm Rapmund and Alex Sinclair. Brombal and Dell'Edera have been vocal about their excitement in reimagining what a Green Lantern can be and do with this series. Rina Mori, the protagonist, is a reluctant hero who would rather stay in bed than save the world, yet she has no choice but to rise to the occasion.
Fans of Dell'Edera's artistic style can anticipate a truly atmospheric and sinister offering, as hinted by the unlettered preview pages. Green Lantern: Dark #1 is scheduled for publication on October 23. Simultaneously, in a different narrative thread within the DC universe, a novel type of Lantern has just appeared.
