Twisted Metal season 2 is expanding its roster as it prepares for its next installment. Anthony Carrigan, widely recognized for his performances in Gotham and Barry, is slated to portray a primary antagonist from the video game Calypso.
In the game, Calypso, occasionally called William Sparks, is the mastermind behind the titular demolition derby, offering winners their heart's desire. He featured as a playable character in Twisted Metal 4, operating a vehicle armed with a nuclear missile.
Joining Carrigan in the cast are Richard de Klerk (Supernatural), Patty Guggenheim (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), and Tiana Okoye (The Good Place). Details about their roles have yet to be disclosed.
Twisted Metal season 1, a collaboration between Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick of Deadpool fame and Michael Jonathan Smith from Cobra Kai, revolved around John Doe (Marvel's Anthony Mackie), an amnesiac delivery man on a quest to transport a package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. His journey becomes fraught with danger as a gang of marauders pursues him. During his travels, he partners with Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), an axe-wielding car thief, vowing to help each other survive.
Calypso's forthcoming appearance was hinted at in the season 1 finale when Raven (Neve Campbell) held John at gunpoint, compelling him to be her driver in a new race, competing against other cities for the ultimate prize. Meanwhile, Quiet's car was ambushed by a group of masked women, led by Dollface, who revealed herself to be John's estranged sister.
In addition to Twisted Metal, Carrigan will portray the DC villain Metamorpho alongside Rachel Brosnahan and David Corenswet in James Gunn's Superman.
The availability of Twisted Metal for streaming is offered through Peacock in the United States and Paramount Plus in the United Kingdom.
